Whether a teenager or an adult, oily skin has been the curse of many people just like you. None likes to have that greasy feeling and the dirt that gathers on your face, not to mention the shine that makes you flinch at the idea of flash photography. But need to worry, as there are simple solutions available for these problems.

Causes Of Oily Skin

The main causes for oily skin are the overactive oil glands that produce the substance, sebum, which is a natural skin lubricant and moisturizer. As too much sebum accumulates, it becomes thick and heavy in texture making it feel greasy.

If the oily skin is left untreated, it becomes the basis of pimples, excessive shine and blemishes.

Advantages Of Oily Skin

There exists a good one as well. Oily skin tends to be less likely to show wrinkles and other signs of aging compared to other skin types. The oil keeps more moisture in the skin making it more flexible and elastic, which indeed leads to less wrinkling.

So while you may worry and moan about your oily skin, you will look 10 to 15 yrs younger, if proper oily skin care is given today. But if the oily skin is left untreated, it leads to clogged pores, blackheads, and buildup of dead skin cells.

This will make it difficult to have clear healthy skin. It also causes a sallow-looking complexion and makes having large, visible pores very likely.

Oily Skin Treatment

As if now there is no quick-fix solution to treat oily skin successfully. As you are addressing not a surface problem but one that is inside your body, patience is your best tool. Success may take some time to achieve success in oily skin treatment.

Where as in some cases, may need professional medical attention. And in most cases, the condition is simply put under control and never totally treated. Even then, the condition of the oily skin will improve and the objective to not have greasy shiny skin will be closer than ever.

Get Rid Of The Excess Sebum

While treating oily skin, first thing to be done is to get rid of the excess sebum on your face, without total drying out your skin. Do not wash your face frequently. Too much washing and degreasing can actually worsen the things as stripping your skin of oil, which will cause your oil glands to work overtime in generating more sebum.
